The 140 kg Bolaños artisanal Super Goat Cheese was cut last Friday at 12:00 hours in the Cheese Shop of Las Palmas’ Mercado Central, in a massive event that was attended by Antonio Morales, President of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria; Augusto Hidalgo, Mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Pedro Quevedo, Deputy Mayor; in addition to the presence of numerous media and customers of the Mercado Central, who had the opportunity to taste the intense flavor of Super Cheese.
The humongous cheese has been made following the guidelines and experience of the master cheesemaker, Isidoro Jiménez, and the expertise of the master cheesemaker, Lionel Hernández, which was cut with a stainless steel cable into 4 portions of 35 kg each. , to the amazement of the public gathered around it.
1,000 liters of raw goat’s milk from the south of the island of Gran Canaria have been necessary to make the Bolaños’ Super Cheese, which aroused praise for its flavor from all the lucky ones who were able to taste a portion of it.
The company Quesos Bolaños is already thinking of the next project that could lead them to overcome the 180 kg barrier and get as close as possible to 200 kg, a challenge for Bolaños’ work team.
The Super Cheese is now available for sale by portions at the Cheese Shop stand in the Mercado Central of Las Palmas, for all those who do not want to miss the opportunity to taste it.
